Northern Lights Broadcasting launches 96.3 NOW,
new Top 40 radio station
EDINA, Minn. --(Jan. 6, 2010)-- The Twin Cities' newest radio station, KHTC FM,
96.3 NOW, officially launches today with more hits, increased signal power and more online and mobile access than before.
The station features today's Top 40 music from artists such as Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Jay-Z, Britney Spears, Kanye West and Lady Gaga, among others. The new 96.3 NOW can be heard on-air, online at www.963now.com and via a variety of mobile devices, including the iPhone.
According to Steve Woodbury, president and CEO for Northern Lights Broadcasting and 27-year veteran of Twin Cities radio, the new format direction is in line with radio trends.
"We are shifting to a more mainstream pop/hip-hop mix of music, which reflects both what listeners across the U.S. are responding to, as well as the music that's being produced today," Woodbury said. The new station replaces the previous format under the B96 name.
"It's our hope that our current listeners will find more music to like than ever before," said Sam Elliot, Northern Lights vice president of operations. "Plus, we hope to attract more listeners with our increased broadcast reach and music offering." Elliot noted that the station has increased signal strength throughout the entire metro area, with a special focus on reaching eastern St. Paul.
More than just an on-air radio station, 96.3 NOW is a mobile and digital destination where audience members and fans alike can stay socially connected through a variety of interactive features, applications and networking opportunities.
"Our vision is to build the next powerhouse radio station in the Twin Cities," Woodbury said. "We are elated to expand our footprint into this area and look forward to serving 18-49 year old adults in the Twin Cities radio market."
Based in Edina, Minn., Northern Lights Broadcasting owns KHTC FM in the Twin Cities and KGLB AM in Glencoe, Minn. The company is locally owned and operated as part of the Pohlad family of companies.
